Crispy oil-free tofu with creamy cilantro crema

By:

Ingredients
  • Tofu:
  • 1 package of tofu
  • 2 tsp cornstarch (add more if needed)
  • 1-2 tsp chilli powder or taco seasoning
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Lime juice (optional)
  • Whole wheat tortillas and optional fillings as you like
  • Crema:
  • 1 & 1/4 cup avocado flesh
  • 2 tbsp water, or more as needed to thin out
  • 2-3 tbsp lime juice, to taste
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (optional)
  • 1 cup packed fresh cilantro
  • 1 tsp kosher salt, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp ground cumin
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper, to taste
Directions
  • Step 1 Tofu:
  • Step 2 Mix the cornstarch and spices in a shallow bowl
  • Step 3 Press tofu with paper towel to get rid of excess water
  • Step 4 Dice or cube the tofu block
  • Step 5 Evenly coat the tofu
  • Step 6 Heat griddle or nonstick pan and cook each side until crispy
  • Step 7 Meanwhile, combine al ingredients for crema in a blender
  • Step 8 Blend to combine and adjust spices to taste
  • Step 9 Combine optional fillings and tofu in tortillas and top off with crema

  • 1-2 frozen bananas
  • Handful of frozen dark cherries
  • Chocolate protein powder (Sun warrior, Orgain or VegaSport)
  • 1/4 cup nondairy milk
  • Toppings:
  • Peanut butter
  • Cacao nibs
  • Chocolate sauce
  • Granola
Directions
  • Step 1 Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender
  • Step 2 Spoon into a bowl
  • Step 3 Add any toppings you would like

Crispy Oil-Free Fried Tofu

Deliciously quick and crispy tofu. The perfect addition to any meal.

Ingredients
  • 1 package of super firm organic sprouted tofu
  • Siracha (as much or as little as you like)
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
Directions
  • Step 1 Slice tofu into 1/4 inch cubes
  • Step 2 Combine spices and tofu in a bowl
  • Step 3 Toss to combine
  • Step 4 Heat a pancake griddle until warm
  • Step 5 Throw a few pieces of tofu onto the pan
  • Step 6 Fry until each side is blackened or crispy
  • Step 7 Serve in a burrito or with your favorite side dish
